Awario vs Brand24 social listening & monitoring features
Awario and Brand24 have some social listening and monitoring features in common. For instance, both have Mentions Feeds that display results of searched keywords. They also provide metrics related to these mentions like the reach, share of voice, top influencers, and the sources.
Another common feature is the Alerts tool that lets you track keywords and receive email or in-app notifications of monitored mentions.
Now let’s look at each platform’s social listening and monitoring features.
Awario social listening & monitoring features
Mentions feed
Awario’s non-stop monitoring feature tracks mentions across the web. It provides real-time results of mentions as feeds on your dashboard to keep you updated on conversations relevant to your searched keywords.
The mentions feed shows results like:
- The source and author of the mention – including the URL
- The sentiment – whether positive, negative, or neutral
- The reach – how many people have interacted with the conversation
You can mark individual mentions as starred or done. Then, you’ll directly go to the categories ‘Just found,’ ‘Unread,’ ‘Starred,’ ‘Done,’ and ‘All’ when viewing specific mentions. You can also delete or blacklist unwanted mentions.
Alerts
The Alerts feature lets you set up new mentions by typing in the preferred keywords to monitor. These can be your brand name, a product, a competitor’s name, or a trending word.
Awario offers two alert modes, Standard and Boolean.
In the Standard mode, you add the keywords you want to monitor and (or) exclude. You can also narrow down the results using filters like language, location, sources, and historical data.
The Boolean search mode allows you to use different operators to refine your results. For example, you can use quotation marks (“Hubspot”) to find exact matches of your selected keywords. You can also use AND to combine specific keywords.
Social media dashboard
The social media dashboard is like a landing page that summarizes all your search results. So it shows metrics like:
- Total mentions
- Total reach
- Top mentions
- Top influencers
- Locations and languages
- Sentiments
- Topic cloud
- Sources
The social media dashboard is also a centralized point of access to other features, including the mentions feed, alerts, leads, and reports.
Brand24 social listening & monitoring features
Mentions Feed
The Mentions Feed updates you on what people say about your brand by showing real-time mentions. It displays discussions featuring the keyword you’re monitoring to help you engage with the right people at the right time.
Brand24’s Mentions Feed provides a comprehensive list of sources where your tracked keyword has appeared. You also get the mentions volume and reach, sentiment, influencer score, date, and time of posting.
Plus, each result displays:
- The number of followers (if posted by an individual)
- The number of site visits per month (if posted on a website)
- The post’s performance (number of likes, comments, and shares)
- The site’s URL
Like Awario’s, Brand24’s Mentions Feed allows you to filter the search results and add tags. You can also add the mentions to PDF reports, delete them, and mute the site (or author).
But in a nutshell, Brand24’s Mentions feed is more detailed than Awario’s.
Alerts
The Alerts feature allows you to track mentions and spot changes in the volume of mentions related to your brand. You can receive these alerts via email or as in-app notifications so that you don’t miss out on any discussion spikes.
It’s also a great way to identify problems that affect your brand and respond to them before they escalate. To do so, customize your alert settings so that you only receive specific alerts. For instance, you may want to receive notifications of negative mentions from websites with more than 2k monthly visits.
Discussion Volume Chart
The Discussion Volume Chart shows how mentions volume and reach change over time. You can spot spikes or declines in discussions that matter to your business per day, week, or month. It also allows you to filter the mentions by date.
Like the Alerts feature, this chart helps you discover problems or urgent issues before they snowball. For instance, you can identify a spike in negative comments about your brand and solve the issue before it becomes a crisis.
Brand24 vs Awario analysis & reporting features
Brand24 and Awario offer handy analysis and reporting features to help you make sense of the search results.
Both have tools that analyze the collected data and provide insights that can power your decisions. For example, Brand24 has more advanced analysis and reporting features like AI insights, advanced analytics, and infographics. Its analysis feature also generates more metrics than Awario’s.
Let’s go over each feature in detail in the next section.
Brand24 analysis and reporting features
Mention Analytics
The Mention Analytics feature helps you understand the quality and quantity of collected mentions.
It generates different metrics to show the performance of your tracked keyword across the web.
Here are some examples:
- Reach – is an estimate of all the people who might have interacted with mentions containing the monitored keyword(s). Brand24 splits the social media and non-social reach depending on the monitored platforms. This metric gives insights into your brand’s online presence.
- Sentiment scores – reveal people’s perceptions of your brand by showing the number of mentions with positive, negative, or neutral sentiments.
- User-generated content – refers to the mentions created by users on online platforms like blogs, forums, and social media.
- Presence score – shows the extent of a brand’s online presence or popularity. This percentage can help you measure brand awareness.
- Trending links and hashtags – let you know what links and hashtags people love and frequently share in the collected mentions.
Influencers
The Influencers feature displays a table of influential people who’ve mentioned your tracked keyword in their posts.
The table has details like the profile name, site, number of mentions and followers, share of voice, and influence score. You can also visit the person’s site, and block, or delete the entry.
I didn’t find the influencer score accurate. But the influencers’ feature helps you identify potential brand advocates you can engage and collaborate with in the future.
AI Insights
The AI Insights feature provides valuable insights and recommendations from the processed data to help you make informed decisions.
The AI-powered feature helps you understand the patterns in some metrics by suggesting why they occurred. For instance, if there was an increase in positive mentions related to a new product within a particular time, this could mean that consumers are happy with it.
It also identifies emerging trends that could present new market opportunities. And it offers more metrics to help you understand the insights better.
However, Brand24 cautions its users about the accuracy of such information since this is a Beta feature.
Comparison
Brand24 Comparison lets you compare two projects (tracked mentions) or periods.
It’s the perfect tool for comparing yourself to competitors. To use it, create two projects, one for your brand and the other for your competitor.
Then the Comparison feature will generate metrics for both projects to help you compare your performance against competitors.
These metrics include:
- Total mentions
- Social media mentions
- Non-social media mentions
- Positive and negative mentions
- Social media reach
- Non-social media reach
- Presence score
- Advertising value equivalence (AVE)
- User-generated content
But you can use filters like sources, sentiment, geolocation, and author to select specific metrics you want to compare.
The comparison tab also generates the following charts to help you understand the metrics better:
- Mentions chart
- Sentiments chart
- Reach chart
- Categories share chart
Reports
Brand24 generates auto-reports to keep you updated with the most important mentions. It’s ideal for users who don’t visit their accounts daily but prefer receiving daily, weekly, or monthly updates.
Types of generated reports are:
- Email reports
- PDF reports
- Excel reports
- Infographics
Awario analysis and reporting features
Awario’s analysis and reporting features all fall under the social listening reports at the bottom left of your dashboard.
They include the following:
Mention Statistics
Mention Statistics displays all the metrics generated from your search results, showing how your brand’s mentions have grown across the web.
Some of the metrics include:
- Mentions volume
- Share of voice/Reach
- Sentiment analysis
- Sources
- Countries (location) and languages
Mention Statistics help you understand:
- Your brand’s online performance
- Consumers’ perceptions of your brand, products, or services
- How you compare with your competitors
- Industry trends affecting your brand
You can also download these statistics into reports and share them with your team members, investors, or clients. These reports include:
- PDF reports
- White-label reports (customizable with your brand name and logo)
Alert Comparison
Similar to Brand24’s Comparison tab, this feature lets you compare projects (or monitored mentions).
Alert Comparison is ideal for competitor research, as it helps you compare your marketing strategy and social performance with competitors.
Here you’ll have a side-by-side comparison of metrics that matter to your brand and competitors.
And the insights generated allow you to identify your competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, and winning strategies. They also help you know what consumers think of your competitors. And you can discover new marketing opportunities presented by market gaps.
Influencers
This tab helps you uncover niche influencers interacting with your brand’s mentions.
It shows a list of the influencers, their followers, the number of mentions, and their sentiments.
These metrics help you identify top influencers who can be your brand’s advocates to drive brand awareness.
