To recover your hacked Facebook business page, contact Facebook support and file a report. You can also secure your personal account or request Meta Verified support.
Your Facebook business page helps you connect with your customers and promote your products (or services). So it’s upsetting when someone hacks the page, preventing you from engaging your customers and doing business.
This guide gives a detailed process of how to recover your hacked Facebook business page.
How to recover a hacked Facebook business page
Follow the methods below to regain your hacked Facebook business page.
Method 1: Contact Facebook support
Contact Facebook support by filing a report once you’ve determined that someone has hacked your account.
Here’s what to do:
- Go to the Facebook Help Center page and type “hacked Facebook page” on the search bar.
- Select “I think my Facebook page was hacked or taken over by someone” from the options.
- Scroll down the page and click “File a report.”
- The “I have issues accessing my page” window will appear if you’ve lost your admin status.
- If you have no admined pages (like in my case), return to the Help Center page and report your issue by following this link: https://web.facebook.com/help/contact/164405897002583
- Fill in the report form and provide as many details as possible about your hacked Facebook page. You can even attach screenshots for evidence.
- Click “Send” and wait for Facebook’s feedback. Facebook will review your case and send a confirmation email after they’ve resolved the issue.
Method 2: Secure your personal account
Since hackers usually access Facebook pages via personal accounts, you can regain control of your business page by securing your personal account.
Follow the steps below to secure your personal Facebook account:
- Go to the Facebook Help Center page and search “hacked Facebook page.”
- Select “I think my Facebook page was hacked or taken over by someone” from the options.
- Scroll down the page and click “Visit this page to secure it.”
- Select the option that best fits your current situation and click “Continue.” I chose “Someone else got into my account without my permission.”
- Click “Get Started” when a prompt appears to secure your personal account. Wait for Facebook to scan your account for security issues.
- Click “Continue” when a window appears to start the process.
- Change your current password and click “Continue.” If there are no more security issues, Facebook will redirect you to your News Feed.
- A window with detected email addresses will appear in case of more security issues.
- Delete any suspicious emails (which could be the hackers’). Click “Skip” if there are no suspicious emails.
- Delete any suspicious phone numbers that may have accessed your account. Click “Skip” if there are no unknown numbers.
- Remove any unknown users or suspicious friends added by the hacker.
- Your account is now secure, and you can click “Go back to News Feed.”

FAQs
What if someone hacked my Facebook and changed my email and password?
If someone has hacked your Facebook page and changed your email and password, try the method below to recover your account.
- Go to Facebook’s Help Center and enter “Hacked account” on the search bar.
- Scroll down to the “If you think you were hacked” option.
- Click “Answer a few multiple-choice questions here.”
- Answer the questions truthfully to prompt Facebook support to resolve your issue. For instance, confirm that you can’t log in to your account and have no access to the email or phone number associated with your account.
- Follow the next steps as Facebook redirects you to confirm your identity.
What is the first thing you do when you get hacked on Facebook?
The first thing you can do after realizing that someone hacked you is to secure your account.
Here’s how:
- Change or reset your password. If the hacker hasn’t yet changed your Facebook password, log in to your account and change it. If they did, request a password reset by clicking “Forgot password” on the login page and following the required steps. Ensure the new password is hard to guess (it can be a combination of letters, words, and symbols).
- Log out on all devices. If you can still access your account, log in and go to “Security and Login.” Check out the login details, including the devices and time used to log in. If there’s suspicious activity, click “Log out of all sessions.”
- File a report. Let the Facebook support team know your account has been hacked by filing a report on the Help Center page. The team will help you recover your account.
- Delete suspicious third-party apps. If you have third-party apps on your Facebook account, review their access. Go to “Settings” then “Apps & websites.” Revoke access to suspicious apps and those that you no longer use.
- Activate two-factor authentication. If you can still log in to your account, enable two-factor authentication to double up the security. To do this, go to “Settings” and “Security and Login.” Then, turn on two-factor authentication so that Facebook will ask you to enter a verification code whenever you want to access your account.
- Inform family members and friends. Let your loved ones know that your Facebook page has been hacked. Tell them not to send money or information if they’ve already received suspicious messages.
How long does it take for Facebook to get back to you about a hacked account?
After filing a hacked account report, Facebook can respond in minutes, hours, days, or weeks.
The time taken varies, depending on factors like:
- The severity of your issue. It takes longer to resolve complex cases, especially if the hacker has changed your account’s email and phone number.
- Your cooperation. Facebook will restore your account quickly if you’re cooperative. For instance, they might require you to submit some documents (like your ID) to confirm your identity.
- Communication delays. It might take longer to recover your account if there’s a communication breakdown. For instance, you might not respond promptly to Facebook’s emails if they end up in the Spam or Junk boxes.
- Your account type. You might get a response sooner if your account is Meta Verified. That’s because you’re more advantaged than users without the verification badges.
Note: Response delays don’t mean Facebook isn’t working on your case. Be patient and persistent until Facebook restores your hacked account.
Can you recover a Facebook page that was hacked?
You can recover a hacked Facebook page, especially if you act fast.
The Facebook support team will help you recover your account after following the recommended steps on the Help Center page. Sometimes, you’ll have to confirm your identity to regain your account.
If you’re a verified creator, request Meta Verified support to recover your hacked account.
Some users prefer seeking experts to help them recover their accounts. But you should be cautious because some hackers pretend to help to steal sensitive information.
Who can I contact about my Facebook page being hacked?
First, contact the Facebook support team (via the Help Center) to inform them that your page was hacked.
If your page is connected to your business account, contact the Business Help Center for support.

It’s also advisable to inform your friends and family about your page being hacked. Letting them know will prevent them from falling into the hacker’s trap. For instance, sending money or personal details.
What do hackers do when they get into your Facebook?
Hackers usually do malicious activities after getting into your Facebook account.
Here are some examples:
- They harvest your personal details like names and contact information. They can use these details to create fake accounts and scam people.
- They impersonate you. They send messages to people in your circle pretending to be you. They can use this chance to fake your kidnapping and request ransom.
- They can access linked accounts or change your login details. This is to prevent you from accessing your accounts.
- They can send spam messages or links to people. Hackers do this to steal information or spread malware (like viruses).
- They can sell your account on the dark web for criminal activities like theft and money laundering.
